Mafia Secrets
What's everyone's favorite color?

By Bryan 'Boss Man' Martin, contributing writer

You guessed it, “Color of Money!” Kary Bryce, owner of Louisiana-based Preferred Materials Inc. is the proud poppa of this 2007 Peterbilt 379. This Legacy Series truck is No. 995 of 1,000 and was one of the last Petes that featured metallic chassis paint from the factory. Of course, it has a big 550 horsepower Cat, an 18-speed transmission, and all the bells and whistles.

Kary didn’t let us get too exotic with this renovation. It was important to him that the truck maintained its classic look. Kary stated: “A Peterbilt needs to look like a Peterbilt! If a fella starts getting too radical with the accessorizing, you will quickly start looking like a new-age hot rod. Since the ‘Color of Money’ is a Legacy truck, I wanted to keep it pretty traditional, simple and cool.”

He wanted to keep the same base paint color and stripe design that the truck featured in 2007. To complement the design further, we also painted the visors, fuel tanks, cab and sleeper panels, frame covers, rear fenders and sleeper shock cover for added appeal. Seven-inch stacks, bullet cab lights, a rear T-bar bumper, and a flashy chrome bumper with the ol’ school bed rail under it rounded out the exterior in a big way!

Moving to the interior, we dropped in new Bostrom Wide Ride 2 seats, then painted the dash, door panels and floorboards to match the exterior. We went with an ivory retro steering wheel, an ivory custom shift knob to match … Wow! The interior looks as hot as the exterior.

Kary and his crew have been longtime loyal customers of 4 State Trucks and CSM, and they are frequent flyers here at our place. These fantastic folks quite often have a truck or trailer in the shop getting tricked out.

Look out for “Color of Money” in Joplin, Mo., at GBATS! The Guilty by Association Truck Show is this Sept. 22-23. LL
