Truckers who drive unsafely and four-wheelers who drive unsafely around trucks are the targets of an enforcement blitz this week.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and law enforcement agencies have teamed up for “Operation Safe Driver,” which began Sunday, Oct. 19, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 25.

“Operation Safe Driver will have a razor sharp focus on targeting and taking aggressive enforcement action for poor decisions made by drivers of commercial vehicles and those 4-wheelers operating unsafely around them,” said CVSA Executive Director Stephen F. Campbell in a press release announcing the enforcement effort.

“We are also rolling out education and awareness strategies to combat this epidemic. Far too many deaths are occurring, and it is unacceptable to stand by and watch the carnage continue.”
