Truckers are breathing a little easier at the pumps these days as the national average price for diesel continues to fall. In the past two weeks, the national average has dropped nearly 40 cents per gallon.
This past week, the national average price for diesel dropped 17.7 cents to $3.482 per gallon, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported on Monday, Oct. 20. Just a week earlier, the EIA reported the national average had dropped 21.6 cents per gallon for diesel.
The EIA is reporting that the national average is now only 38.8 cents per gallon higher than it was during the same week in 2007.
The highest average price for diesel is still being reported in the New England region at $3.729, while the lowest reported average for fuel is again being reported in the West Coast region at $3.435 per gallon.
