Missouri waives HOS, expedites oversized loads for flood relief efforts

An emergency declaration waiving hours-of-service regs and expediting over-dimension/overweight loads has been issued for truckers hauling relief supplies to select Missouri counties hit by the recent flooding.

Truckers operating in Clark, Lewis, Lincoln, Marion, St. Charles and St. Louis counties in Missouri, who are specifically removing, repairing or otherwise offering assistance related to the flooding, can operate under the declaration.

The declaration, which went into effect June 30 and expires at noon July 23, waives the hours of service. It also gives priority service on over-dimension and overweight permitted loads where loads can be hauled during low visibility, holiday and curfew hours with clearance lights.

Truckers still have to permit the oversize loads and have a copy of the declaration in their possession.
