New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine’s series of “town hall” meetings to promote his proposal to pay off state debt by increasing tolls continues Monday, Jan. 28, in Camden, NJ.
Corzine is proposing to increase tolls every four years from 2010 through 2022 on the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway and the Atlantic City Expressway, and to start charging tolls on a toll-free state Route 440.
The governor’s plan also includes state spending freezes and new borrowing strategies to pay down $32 billion in debt.
Corzine called for 21 public meetings to discuss his plan and collect feedback. The public is invited to speak at meetings. To sign up, call the phone number listed with the meeting you wish to attend, or send e-mail to the addresses provided.
