West Virginia cuts truckers some slack on registration fees

In West Virginia, state officials have decided to give truckers a little bit of a financial break in light of the high price of diesel.

The governor’s office and the Department of Motor Vehicles announced on June 3 that they were delaying for two months the deadline for payment of the annual truck registration fee.

Instead of being due July 1, the $1,100 payment for Class 8 trucks will be due by Sept. 1.

A governor’s spokesman said the extension is designed to help truckers manage their expenses.
