$6 million in truck found by Mexican soldiers at border ‘hot spot’

Mexican soldiers recently found a truck with $6 million in cash parked near the U.S. border in a reported “hot spot” for drug trafficking in Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Drug squads of soldiers uncovered the U.S. currency among eight suitcases stashed inside a tractor-trailer and smaller truck parked near a highway just over the border from Texas, Reuters reported on April 4.

Mexican authorities arrested five men at the scene, where they also found four pistols.

The report stated that police and military units have been assigned by President Felipe Calderon to crack down on drug cartels, and have encountered 800 “gangland-style” killings already in 2008.
