Shell has introduced some high-tech gas pumps at 10 stations in Chicago.
Customers touch a small screen with their fingertips, and a biometric scanner clears them to pump gas if they’ve signed up for the service.
After they pump, a credit card or bank account is automatically charged.
One station owner told The Associated Press only 2 percent of her customers have signed up. She said she thinks the technology scares people from a privacy standpoint.
