Iowans would accept fuel tax hike – on one condition

A recent newspaper survey in Iowa found that, by a 2-to-1 margin, residents are more interested in increasing funding for roads and bridges than for things such as teachers pay.

The Quad City Times reported that 81 percent of those interviewed said they’d pay higher fuel taxes if they got a constitutional guarantee that the money would only be used for roads and bridges.
