It appears that in Ontario, Canada, rather than putting speed limiters on trucks, it might be a good idea to put them on passenger vehicles.
Today’s Trucking reports that the provincial police have impounded the vehicles of 704 drivers since a new law took effect.
That law provides that anyone doing more than 50 kilometers – or 31 miles – over the posted speed limit is subject to the temporary loss of his or her vehicle and license and fines up to $10,000.
The report makes no mention of any heavy trucks being impounded, or any truckers losing their licenses.
