Trucker injured in propane explosion dies

Charles McDonald, the truck driver who was badly burned earlier this month during an explosion at a foundry in Tacoma, WA, has died.

The Seattle-Post Intelligencer reports that the 64-year-old McDonald died Sunday, Oct. 14, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

McDonald was pumping propane from his truck into stationary tanks at the Atlas Castings and Technology foundry when the explosion happened.

Security camera video from the incident showed McDonald struggling to connect a hose to the stationary tank seconds before the blast.

The Tacoma News-Tribune reported that the propane was ignited by a foundry furnace.

The blast sent a massive fireball into the sky and caused a state highway to close and a power outage for thousands of people.
