Interstate 10 reopens in Louisiana

Interstate-10 was reopened in Louisiana Sunday evening, Nov. 25, which was 11 days after it had been shut down because of a large natural gas leak.

The highway was closed for 55 miles between Lafayette and Baton Rouge when a drilling crew that was trying to put in a new well accidently caused a natural gas blow-out that later caught fire.

State officials have now ordered a four-month moratorium on drilling oil and gas wells near the Interstate, pending a review of procedures.
