Segment of I-10 remains closed in Louisiana

A 55-mile stretch of Interstate 10 in Louisiana remained shut down today, Monday, Nov. 19, and could remain closed through Thanksgiving.

The Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans reported that a natural gas leak that prompted the closing Thursday probably cannot be capped until Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the earliest.

The part of the interstate that’s closed is roughly from Lafayette to Baton Rouge, with traffic on both ends being routed north to U.S. 190.
