Serbian truck driver arrested in Detroit wanted for war crimes

Federal agents arrested a 42-year-old truck driver from Canada after his name matched the name of a Serbian man wanted for war crimes against civilians.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Goran Pavic was arrested at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Fort Street Cargo Facility in Detroit after he crossed the Ambassador Bridge from Canada.

Pavic’s truck was hauling recreational benches and soap to Alabama and Florida, a CBP spokesman confirmed to Land Line on Tuesday.

Pavic’s name initiated a hit in an Interpol database showing he was wanted for war crimes against civilians related to the Bosnian War during the 1990s.

Pavic is being processed for extradition to Croatia, the spokesman confirmed.
