The national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel fuel continues to skyrocket, jumping 12.2 cents to $3.425 for the week ending Monday, Nov. 12.

The Energy Information Administration posted the latest data on Tuesday following the observation of Veterans Day.

In California, the price of a gallon of ultra-low sulfur diesel was $3.663 per gallon following an increase of 13.9 cents in the past week and 98.6 cents in the past year.

The national average for ULSD was $3.438, an increase of 12.4 cents from the previous week. The average for remaining supplies of low-sulfur diesel was $3.368 following an increase of 11.1 cents.

After California, the largest increase in average price by EIA region was 13.8 cents per gallon in the Central Atlantic region, $3.384 to $3.522 for ULSD.

The Midwest average for ULSD was $3.425, up 13.4 cents from $3.291.

ULSD in the Gulf Coast region averaged $3.350, up 12.6 cents from $3.224 per gallon.

The East Coast region averaged $3.423 for ULSD, up 12.4 cents per gallon, while the Lower Atlantic region experienced an increase of 11.9 cents to average $3.362.

The New England region had an average price of $3.484 per gallon of ULSD, up 10.9 cents from $3.375.

ULSD in the Rocky Mountain region averaged $3.535 per gallon following an increase of 12.2 cents, while the West Coast region averaged $3.610 after increasing 9.6 cents per gallon.

EIA forecasters are predicting an average of about $3.18 for diesel in December and that it could take about a year before diesel prices fall below $3 per gallon.
