NHTSA campaigns for night-time seat belt use

A national safety agency says seat belt use goes down at night – even though the odds of being killed in a crash are three times higher at night than during the day.

So, officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have asked state officials to participate in a special edition of the national “Click it or Ticket” clampdown on nighttime seatbelt use between May 21 and June 3.

A $30 million advertising campaign is part of the initiative.
