Hewitt's license permanently revoked

The state of Maine has permanently revoked the driving privileges of former trucker Scott Hewitt.

According to The Associated Press, the revocation was prompted by a finding that Hewitt was under the influence of marijuana when his truck ran into a car in July 2005, killing a 40-year-old woman.

The fatal crash made news across the country after it was found that Hewitt's driving record included 63 convictions, 23 license suspensions and involvement in a previous fatality wreck.

Hewitt is presently in jail, serving 30 months after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
