Explosion closes interstates near downtown Dallas

Two interstates near downtown Dallas were shut down at mid-morning Wednesday, July 25, after a powerful series of explosions at a company that sold acetylene gas to welders.

According to CNN, both Interstate 35 East and Interstate 30 were closed to traffic near the blast site, which is in an industrial park beneath the interstate overpasses.

The explosions blew flaming shrapnel into the air and caused a series of structure fires. At least two people were seriously injured, CNN reported.
