Trucker killed in Tappan Zee Bridge wreck

The Tappan Zee Bridge – which carries Interstate 87 across the Hudson River just north of New York City – reopened Monday morning after a fiery crash shut it down for nine hours overnight.

According to media reports, a produce and meat trailer being hauled by Ricardo E. Riveros, New Windsor, NY, was hit by a speeding car. His truck then went over a barricade and hit an oncoming car.

Both vehicles caught on fire. Officials said Riveros died at the scene.

No one else was seriously hurt in the wreck.

Riveros was a Land Line subscriber and former OOIDA member.
