Mullawala asks to leave U.S. on own

At a deportation hearing Tuesday in Boston, Mohammed Mullawala testified that he’s done nothing illegal and asked the judge to allow him to leave the U.S. on his own – rather than be forcibly deported.

Mullawala is the former trucking school student who drew the attention of federal investigators after he told his instructors he only wanted to learn how to drive a truck forward – not in reverse. He also told them he wanted to study up on hazardous materials.

According to the Providence Journal, Mullwala had 11 addresses in four different states over four years, frequently switched cars, changed the spelling of his first name and claimed he worked for several companies that have no record of him as an employee.
