Canadians complain about U.S. border fees

A number of Canadian truckers are upset about the increasing cost of crossing the border into the U.S., according to executives with the Canadian Trucking Alliance.

The CTA has issued a press release noting that, in April, the single-crossing fee for trucks will increase to $5.50.

In addition, customs fees and mandatory transponder costs can add up to more than $200. And, truckers who need the new TWIC cards will have to pay more than an additional $100.

David Bradley, president of the CTA, said in a statement that truckers have to pass those costs on to customers or “die the death of a thousand knives.”
