Vehicle manufacturer DaimlerChrysler's truck group says 2006 was a record year in terms of its sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks.

According to a press release, the company sold 537,000 trucks worldwide last year - 17,000 more than in 2005.

A company official stated in the release that the company anticipates sales to be down somewhat in 2007 due to pre-buy, but expects a rebound in 2008.
