Passport rules reversed for children at the border

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has changed its mind about requiring children to have passports for border crossings.

DHS officials said children ages 15 and younger could get by with a birth certificate. The same would apply for teens aged 16 to 18, but only if they were traveling for an organized event, such as a soccer match or school outing.

However, adults will still be required to have passports next year.
