A plan by the U.S. to impose fees on certain trucks entering the country from Canada has been delayed for three months.
The fees - either $5.25 per crossing or $105 per year - are supposedly being imposed to pay for beefed-up inspections of agricultural products. However, the fees would be assessed to all trucks, not just those hauling agricultural products.
According to media reports, the three-month delay is designed to give U.S. and Canadian officials time to address concerns over harmful pests making their way across the border.
