When it comes to increases in alcohol-related traffic fatalities, Arizona led the nation last year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
According to NHTSA data, 585 people died in alcohol-related crashes in Arizona in 2006 – up from 508 the year before.
States with the biggest decreases in alcohol-related deaths from 2005 to 2006 include Florida, Missouri and Pennsylvania.
Nationwide, drunken-driving fatalities declined slightly last year, compared to 2005.
