Trucker Peter Durant of Ontario, Canada, had some special guests in his cab recently as he headed for the Windsor-Detroit border crossing.
Durant – who drives for Kriska Transportation – was providing a ride-along for U.S. Consul General John Nay and U.S. Embassy official John Dickson.
According to media reports, the two had requested the ride so they could get a firsthand look at how the FAST program works, and to encourage more truckers to use the program.
FAST – or Free and Secure Trade – was designed to expedite border crossings. But according to the Ontario Trucking Association, only a small percentage of shippers use it.
