Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell has admitted that his state police chauffeured car sometimes breaks the speed limit on Pennsylvania’s highways.

Rendell made the comments to reporters in the wake of the car wreck in which New Jersey Gov. John Corzine was seriously injured earlier this month.

Police found that Corzine’s vehicle, which a state trooper was driving, was traveling at 91 mph.

But perhaps the most telling comment from Rendell involved his feelings about speeding in general.

“Sometimes we adhere to the speed limit, sometimes we don’t,” he told local media. “On many of Pennsylvania’s highways, if you adhered to the speed limit, you’d be a safety hazard.”
