Canadian railroad strike continues

A strike by United Transportation Union employees against the Canadian National railroad continued Monday. According to media reports, the two sides met for five hours on Saturday, but couldn’t reach an agreement.

On April 10, the UTU renewed an earlier strike, after rank-and-file members overwhelmingly rejected a tentative contract agreement. The strike is expected to have an impact on trucking – especially if intermodal shipments that the railroad’s management is trying to keep moving are interrupted.
