California trucking school fumes cause outcry for ordinance

The City Council in National City, CA – just south of San Diego – is poised to pass a law that would ban semis at a truck driver training school from getting close to a nearby elementary school.

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, residents and teachers have complained about overwhelming fumes coming from the Momax Truck Driving School’s trucks.

The ordinance would prohibit the driving school’s trucks from getting closer than 100 feet to the elementary school.

If passed, the ban may only provide a temporary truce, since some council members in National City want the truck driving school moved out of the area altogether, the Union Tribune reported.
