Forecasters say Tropical Storm Florence is an unusually large system that could develop into a full-blown hurricane by this weekend.

But, The Associated Press reports that Florence is currently about 1,800 miles east-southeast of Miami – and it’s unknown if the storm will ever even reach the U.S.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the storm’s highest winds were being clocked at 45 mph, far below the hurricane threshold of 74 mph.
