Trucker saved by cell phone

A cell phone may have saved a Texas trucker's life when a sniper's bullet first struck the phone, then hit his neck.

The trucker - 51-year-old Willie Goree of Irving - had pulled off Interstate 45 in Houston on Thursday, Nov. 2, to make a call when the shot was fired.

Police closed down I-45 for about an hour and arrested a 36-year-old homeless man from the Pacific island of Tonga. Investigators said he was living under the overpass from which he fired.

Investigators found a .22-caliber rifle and shell casings.

Goree was taken to a hospital, and was expected to be released Friday.
