Lawmaker wants Trans-Texas Corridor land purchases investigated

The chairman of the Democratic party in Texas is calling for an attorney general’s investigation into what he charges was the use of “inside information” on land purchases near the proposed route of the Trans-Texas Corridor.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, chairman Boyd Richie thinks there’s a link between a company that’s buying land and Republican Gov. Rick Perry.

The company, Wilson Holdings, is partly owned by former Texas Railroad Commissioner Barry Williamson.

The American-Statesman said Williamson donated $1,000 to Perry’s 2004 campaign but had no other connection with the campaign, and that his company has publicly stated it intended to buy land around the proposed corridor routes.
