The body of an Illinois trucker has been recovered from the Licking River in eastern Kentucky, after engineers closed spillways to lower the 30-foot-deep water in which his truck crashed.
The driver was 38-year-old Rondel Rush of Ina, IL.
Rush – a new OOIDA member – had reportedly hit an unoccupied car that was in the emergency lane on Interstate 64, then went through a guardrail and into the river, according to The Associated Press. The incident happened at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Rush was driving for Gilster-Mary Lee Corp., carrying a load of cereal and other dry goods to a Family Dollar distribution center in Rowan County.
