A trucker who was involved in a crash in Florida that killed seven young members of one extended family surrendered to police on Monday, then was released pending trial.
Alvin Wilkerson, 32, was hauling a load of bottled water on Jan. 25 when his truck hit a car full of youngsters that was stopped behind a school bus on a rural road near Lake Butler.
Investigators say Wilkerson tested negative for drugs or alcohol, but had been awake for about 34 hours before the accident.
His trial – on charges of vehicular homicide and manslaughter – is expected to take place early next year.
