Diesel fuel prices have dropped another 5 cents in the past seven days, according to the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy.

The national average price for a gallon of diesel was $2.546 for the week ending Monday, Oct. 2, down 5.1 cents from $2.595.

For the second week in a row, the Rocky Mountain region had the biggest decrease, from $2.827 to $2.679 – 14.8 cents.

Western states saw a drop of 10.3 cents per gallon with an average of $2.789, down from $2.892.

California prices dropped 7.5 cents to $2.835.

The Midwest held on to the lowest overall price with an average of $2.467, down 3.9 cents.

Gulf Coast states reported a 3.6-cent decrease to $2.490.

On the East Coast, diesel dropped 3.3 cents to $2.567.

New England and the Central Atlantic decreased by 5.2 cents to $2,678 and $2.694 respectively, while Lower Atlantic states decreased by 2.3 cents to $2.503.
