Director defends South Carolina DOT

The director of South Carolina's Department of Transportation defended her agency Nov. 17, saying her group "doesn't need to be bashed anymore."

According to The Associated Press, Elizabeth Mabry made the remarks to a state Senate committee on the heels of an audit that criticized her department.

Among other things, the audit said the DOT pre-paid nearly $9 million dollars to consultants on projects that were eventually eliminated from funding.
