Volvo, Mack '07 engines granted EPA approval

The new 2007 truck engines being produced by Volvo Trucks North America and its sister company, Mack Trucks, have won the approval of the Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA certified that the engines meet the new emission standards, which require a 50-percent reduction of nitrogen oxides and a 90-percent cut in particulates, or soot.

According to a press release from Volvo AB, the company is currently testing more than 70 trucks equipped with '07 engines, including 30 in customer fleets.
