Washington state governor to sign biofuel bill

Biofuel is about to become law in Washington state.

On Thursday, March 30, Gov. Christine Gregoire is expected to sign into law a bill that would require 2 percent of the state’s aggregate consumption of gasoline and diesel to be ethanol and biodiesel by Dec. 1, 2008.

The bill was sent to the governor’s office on March 6.

The measure also calls for 20 percent of the fuel used by state agencies to be biodiesel.

Rep. Janea Holmquist, R-Moses Lake, is one of the bill’s primary sponsors and will be present at the signing, which will take place in Moses Lake, WA.
