Trucker cited after gravel spill in Houston

A Houston trucker has been cited with 18 separate violations after her tractor-trailer overturned on Thursday, June 1, and dumped 36 tons of gravel on top of a woman’s car.

It happened on the Katy Freeway near downtown Houston.

It took rescuers – including bystanders digging with hub caps – about 40 minutes to dig the woman out. She was hospitalized in stable condition.

The driver of the semi, 51-year-old Catalina Martinez was cited for, among other things, having slick tires, cracks in the trailer frame and being 4,000 pounds overweight. The truck was owned by Martinez Trucking.
