Fred H. Bosselman Sr., 89 of Grand Island, NE, founder of the Bosselman Travel Center chain, died last week at home of natural causes.

In 1948, Bosselman, along with his wife, Maxine, and other family members opened Bosselman and Eaton Truck Stop and Restaurant on east Highway 30 in Grand Island, according to an obituary prepared by family members and All Faiths Funeral Home.

In 1964, he built his first truck stop, which was the first of many truck stops throughout the country followed by the development of the Pump & Pantry convenience stores. Bosselman Travel Centers has nine locations in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 1.
