Tennessee officials are planning to upgrade a fog-warning system on a stretch of Interstate 75 that claimed 10 lives in a horrific accident in 1990.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is currently accepting bids to upgrade the fog-detecting system that covers almost 20 miles of roadway near Calhoun, TN.

The new system will feature video cameras, electronic message boards, radar and fog detectors, the Times Free Press reported.

The original system was implemented in the early 1990s, shortly after a disastrous batch of fog at the Calhoun overpass on Dec. 11, 1990, caused a 99-vehicle pileup, killing 10 people and wounding 50.
