A Texas trucking, logistics and brokerage firm that has contracts with more than 5,000 independent owner-operators is changing its name. Transport Industries Holdings Inc. of Irving , TX , is now Greatwide Logistics Services.

Greatwide was formed by the investment group Fenway Partners, which has bought a number of trucking businesses in recent years, including May Trucking.

In September 2005, it announced the acquisition of Cargo-Master and the truckload carrier Dallas & Mavis.

Rather than having its own fleet, Greatwide manages deliveries by its owner-operators. According to a statement from the company, transportation services are provided to companies like Wal-Mart, Target, GM and Ford.
