Legislation that would require a B20 biodiesel blend in all state-owned vehicles cleared a Colorado House panel Monday, Feb. 20.

The bill, which would go into effect in January 2007 if approved, would only be in effect if biodiesel were readily available and the cost was no more than 10 cents per gallon higher than regular diesel.

The Daily Sentinel of Grand Junction reported that the bill cleared the Senate in early February and is expected to go before the full House before the month is over.

Another bill currently making its way through the House calls for powering and heating of state buildings with biofuel.

That bill passed the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources committee Feb. 20.
