Hurricane damaged Florida bridge opens

Two years after Hurricane Ivan destroyed much of the Twinspan Interstate 10 bridges over Escambia Bay near Pensacola, FL, a new bridge re-opened on Tuesday.

That $245-million bridge will carry traffic in both directions until a second span is completed next year.

One of the old bridges damaged by Ivan was the site of a trucker's death during the storm. He tried to make it across the bridge, but his rig ended up dangling off the edge after part of the road surface gave away.
