Truckers who operate mainly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area may be eligible for grant money to reduce their emissions.
The North Central Texas Council of Governments is handing out a total of $4.5 million to people who operate heavy-duty engines - whether they're on-road, stationary or on locomotives.
Chris Klaus, a spokesman for the group, told "Land Line Now" on XM Satellite Radio it's a first-come, first serve process and that there are many possible uses for the money.
Klaus said the money is a reimbursement program, meaning a trucker would have to pay up front - for an APU, for example - and then submit the bill.
