Canadian and Mexican drivers who haul hazmat in the U.S. are now required to have a Free and Secure Trade card, or FAST card, that proves they’ve undergone a background check.
But for now at least, if they’re not in compliance, they’ll only get a warning.
Kelly Klundt, Public Affairs Specialist for the Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection, confirmed for Land Line Magazine that beginning Nov. 13, truckers who do not possess a FAST card will be denied passage into the U.S. at the border.
