Texas waives truck rules for hay shipments

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has instructed the state's Department of Transportation to waive some of the rules for truckers who haul hay.

The Associated Press reported that Texas has lost an estimated 75 percent of its hay crop this year because of drought.

To make up for the loss, the state will suspend permitting rules for hay haulers, as well as the usual height restrictions for round hay bales.

The waivers will run through the end of October.
