The Oklahoma Transportation Commission this week authorized more than $70 million for road construction projects throughout the state.
Among the projects the commission earmarked for funding Monday, Aug. 7, is a $14.8 million contract to upgrade the Gilcrease Expressway in Tulsa.
Another $19.9 million project was approved in Carter and Love counties to rebuild 5.4 miles of Interstate 35. The project will start at the Love-Carter county line and continue north, The Oklahoman reported.
The eight-member commission – appointed by the governor to oversee the state's transportation development – awards project contracts for roads and bridges every month.
