In an interesting turn of events, the IRS may owe you money for a change.
According to CNN, the Internal Revenue Service still has refund checks for 84,290 taxpayers who did not receive them this year. Those refunds totaled more than $73 million and could not be delivered because of address problems.
To help with the problem, the IRS has created a special section on its Web site called “Where’s My Refund?”
If you have not yet received your refund this year, go to www.irs.gov and click on “Where’s My Refund?” After entering some personal information, you will be given the status of your refund and instructions on how to obtain it.
Taxpayers without Internet access should first check their tax records, then call 1-800- 829-1040 for assistance from the IRS.
