Diesel dips, supplies low in some areas

The national average price for diesel fell more than a penny to $3.193 Thursday, Oct. 27, according to AAA.

Prices were still significantly higher than that in many areas, however. Illinois had the highest prices, at an average of $3.48 per gallon.

Meanwhile, some truck stops were still reporting low supplies in several areas.

Flying J was reporting low supplies at some stations in Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska and Texas.

Travel Centers of America is limiting sales at its stations in Matthews, MO, and Slidell, LA, to 50 gallons per purchase.

The company also reported that it is still distributing red-dyed diesel at some stations in Texas and Georgia.

Truckers aren’t the only ones affected by rising fuel costs. According to The Associated Press, in Missouri, Highway Patrol troopers are spending more time parked in one place watching for speeders in order to cut back on fuel costs.

Missouri has also cut back on mowing along some roads, according to The AP.
